Thyroid support supplement

Thyroid Support

Body By Natures Thyroid support contains the active ingredient kelp. The iodine within the kelp plays a vital role to the thyroid metabolism particularly as iodine is lacking in many people diets.
Our body uses the minerals Iodine and Selenium to make thyroid hormones, which are vital for heat, energy and metabolism. Healthy thyroid function is essential for almost all body systems.
The other main ingredient in our thyroid support supplement is L-Tyrosine, which if ingested with iodine can be immediately used by the thyroid gland and help assist with creating thyroid hormones. Body by Nature uses the hydroponical system on minerals to turn them into a cruciferous vegetable (brassica) that is a member of the broccoli family of vegetables.

The function of the Thyroid gland

Thyroid hormone controls both the creation of proteins in the body and the rate in which oxygen is used in the tissues. The metabolic rate varies depending on what you make your body do. It is at base line level at rest, and increases as you exercise. It also increase with other factors such as illness or infection. Thyroid cells are the only cells in the body which can absorb iodine. When the cells combine iodine and the amino acid tyrosine, it makes T3 and T4. T3 and T4 go into the bloodstream and control metabolic rate, metabolism and a whole variety of other essential functions such as cardiac output, heart rate and respiratory rate.
A fully functional thyroid gland produces about 80% T4 and about 20% T3. However, T3 possesses about four times the hormone “strength” of T4 - T3 is the “metabolically active” thyroid hormone. There are 4 essential minerals that are also needed to convert T3 and T4 which are zinc, copper, manganese and selenium. People that have a lower metabolic rate might be lacking in T4, or short of the nutrients needed to convert T4 to T3. If this is the case then a supplement such as our thyroid support will be helpful.

Iodine and the Thyroid Gland

Reports have shown that iodine is lacking in the diets of many. It’s naturally found in sea produce and salt. People who consume less than 3 portions of fish in a week can certainly fall short of iodine and it is also evident in those people that live in areas where fluoride is present in water. Fluoride reduces the uptake of iodine to the thyroid gland which means you could easily become iodine deficient.
