Tea, whether it be green or black, is native to China and India, and has been consumed in those areas for centuries. It’s only in recent years that it has become more popular in the United States. After water, it is considered the most consumed beverage in the world, although only 20% of this is green tea. Well, to begin, green tea greatly reduces chance of cardiovascular problems and heart disease. A Japanese study showed that people who were drinking 5 or more cups per day significantly lowered their chances of heart problems compared to those drinking 1 or less.
The natural chemicals found in green teas have been shown to help reduce the growth of certain cancerous tumors in animals. Green tea drinkers appear to lower their chances of getting pancreatic cancer as well. In fact, in countries where green tea is consumed more liberally, cancer rates tend to be lower.
Some studies, although not 100% conclusive, also show that drinking tea may reduce the possibility of type 2 diabetes.
There is now some evidence that green tea may help with weight loss as well. By raising the metabolism of your body, fat gets burned more efficiently, and increases your energy levels
Anyone considering adopting a healthy diet and lifestyle would be mad not to consider adding green tea to his or her list of things to start consuming.
