Will I lose weight if I exercise

www.bodybynature.co.uk

“Doctor: ‘Ok so after looking at all the results, you are 40 years old, you weigh 267 pounds, you work all the time, eat poorly, don’t exercise, don’t do any drugs, and drink a little more than you should. You have an inflamed gallbladder and a fatty liver…’

I can’t say for certain where I first read about paleo…I was intrigued, but had many doubts…

[T]he hardest part, hands down, was the reaction I was getting from friends. Most were horrified, saying I was undoing all the good I had achieved so far because I was eating so much meat and fat. By this point I had dropped about 50 pounds….

And the weight kept coming off! Breaking the 200 pound barrier was awesome! … My energy level was at a higher level than I could ever remember, and I just felt younger. Avoiding the temptation of poor quality foods became easier…

I write this four years after I started this journey, with two years paleo under by belt. I’m at a comfortable 178 pounds. My sleep apnea, fatty liver, inflamed gallbladder are all gone. I was able to keep myself off of medications that I believe in the long run would have only made things worse for me - and I may well be in the best shape of my life….”

Good old days

www.bodybynaturesupplements.com

Good old days

In 1959 ish (I would have been 4 or almost 5 years old) I can remember when the road workers dug a very large trench right down the middle of Dersingham Avenue to put in big concrete pipes, When the workmen were not around the site would be our play-ground...lol

Us kids used to have great fun climbing up and into the concrete pipes, to this day I still have a small scar on the bridge of my nose where my foot slipped off of a metal step inside of one of the up-ended concrete pipes and I hit the top of my nose on the edge of the pipe as I fell.....blood everywhere!.... after a bit of fist aid I was back out with my mates for a game of war and the pipes and trenches made a ready made battle field....lol
Outside our old house 299 Dersingham Ave was where the workmen had their tea hut and sometimes I would go and sit with them as they were a friendly bunch, there was an old oil drum outside the tea hut which they always had a fire going in to warm their hands over and I remember also they would cook egg, bacon and sausages on the back of the same shovels they would use for digging up the roads and they would make toast and also tea with water boiled over the oil drum fire in an old metal bucket....no McDonald's in them days...

The Benefits of Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA)

Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA) is essential for the production of certain hormones called prostaglandins, which regulate many body functions such as blood pressure and the reproductive cycle. Although the body can produce GLA directly from linoleic acid, sometimes the conversion is not very efficient, so a supplement might be useful. GLA performs a variety of functions, including support of skin health, oxygen metabolism and cell membrane integrity.

Fatty Acid Metabolism& Prostaglandins

Linoleic acid is first metabolised to GLA and then to di-homo-gamma-linolenic acid (DHLA), a precursor of the series one prostaglandins, e.g. prostaglandin E1, (PGE1). DHLA is further metabolised to arachidonic acid, a precursor of the series two prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are highly reactive, short-lived substances with a diverse range of actions, their main effect being on the cardiovascular system and the smooth muscle.

Prostaglandins play a major role in the vascular and immune systems. Many women choose to supplement with Evening Primrose Oil around the time of their period or during the menopause. Fatty acids are as important nutrients as vitamins and minerals, but not all can be made in the body, and essential fatty acids have to be supplied in our food. Human breast milk is one of the richest natural sources of GLA. Linoleic acid can be found in many oils, including safflower, hemp, grape and sunflower.
