Estrogen

This is the female hormone but just like testosterone, it is found in both men and women. estrogen is a very powerful hormone and if levels become too high it can cause an adverse effects on the body.
The estrogen hormone is located in the legs of both men and women. (quads and hamstrings)

... What does estrogen do?

estrogen is an important hormone in the human body. It helps regulate the reproductive system in both male and females. estrogen is produced in the ovaries and the adrenal glands.
What happens when estrogen comes too high?

One of the main problems resulting from high oestrogen levels is weight gain. This is because oestrogen produces fat and the more fat you have the more oestrogen is produced. It’s a vicious cycle.
Secondly oestrogen makes itself known through mental and emotional symptoms. The psychological symptoms of having too high oestrogen levels are decreased libido, depression, agitation, mood swings and anxiety, memory loss, irritability and fatigue.
If estrogen becomes too high the effects on the body can be very serious. It increases the risk of conditions such as cancer. But why do these levels increase?

Well this is because of two things:

1- Not consuming enough protein resulting in low levels of zinc leading to low levels of testosterone.

2- Then second reason is sugar (bad carbs). These foods not only increase insulin resistance, they have another effect on the body too; they increase cortisol (stress levels). You could call cortisol a super hormone because when it goes bad it affects the whole body.

Cortisol when increased makes a chemical that converts testosterone into oestrogen. This is a very bad thing. This will reduce muscle mass (remember fat is a fuel product for muscle) and therefore increase body fat, mainly on the legs, but eventually on the whole body.
